Saskatoon, Sask. - The Saskatchewan Rattlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday that the club signed 6-foot-10 Jaden Bediako and 6-foot-7 Tyrell Green for the remainder of the 2024 season. The duo will make their CEBL debuts on Thursday in a match-up against the Winnipeg Sea Bears at SaskTel Centre.

During his five-year NCAA D1 career, Bediako has played in NCAA DI with Santa Clara University and Seton Hall University. He has a collegiate career average of 6.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and 20.1 minutes in 148 games.

“Jaden is coming off a highly successful college career at Seton Hall and should make an immediate positive impact on our lineup,” said General Manager and Vice-President of Basketball Operations, Barry Rawlyk. “We are very excited to have a big man with his skill set join us.”

Bediako is coming off his final season in the NCAA with Seton Hall starting in all 37 games while averaging 8.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and a team-high 1.6 blocks in 24.8 minutes played. He started his collegiate career with Santa Clara playing four years averaging 5.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 18.5 minutes in 111 games played. Bediako will make his professional debut with the Rattlers.

“Excited to join the Saskatchewan Rattlers organization! Can’t wait to get to work with the team and meet the great people of this province,” said Bediako. “This will be my first time out there. Thank Coach Larry and General Manager Barry for the opportunity. Let’s get it!”

During his seven-year professional career, Green has played with eleven teams in Canada, Great Britain, Finland, Hungary, Sweden, and Luxembourg. He has a professional career average of 12.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 23.9 minutes in 157 games.

“Tyrell brings a wealth of CEBL and International playing experience to the team.” said General Manager and Vice-President of Basketball Operations, Barry Rawlyk. “Unfortunately injuries have depleted our line-up at that position so we are fortunate to have Tyrell available to step in..”

“I would like to thank Barry and the whole Rattlers organization for giving me this opportunity to play for the team,” said Green. “I look forward to coming in and help contribute to the team for this playoff push.”

The Vancouver Bandits, BC’s professional basketball team in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are committed to making a positive impact through basketball and growing the game across British Columbia, and this dedication was highlighted this past week in Kelowna and the Okanagan area. Coming off the recent announcement of Kelowna HOOPFEST, a brand-new basketball festival featuring a CEBL neutral-site home game in partnership with the City of Kelowna, Bandits head coach Kyle Julius spent time at five Okanagan-area secondary schools and both of Kelowna’s post-secondary men’s basketball teams, as part of the Vancouver Bandits third-annual Bandits School Tour. Julius and Bandits staff visited Mount Boucherie Secondary School, Immaculata Regional High School, Okanagan Mission Secondary, Rutland Secondary School and Kelowna Secondary, as well as the men’s basketball teams at UBC Okanagan and Okanagan College, providing dedicated and tailored practices along with motivational talks and training materials. Launched in 2023, the Bandits School Tour is supported by the Bandits Community Foundation, Preston Chevrolet and Envision Financial and offers a unique opportunity for student-athletes and volunteer coaches to learn directly from BC’s only professional basketball coach. “What stood out most during our visit was the impact basketball can have when it is rooted in mentorship and connection; it is clear how vibrant the basketball and business ecosystem is in the Okanagan,” said Bandits team president Dylan Kular. “We are thankful to the Okanagan and Kelowna communities for welcoming us so openly, and this is only the beginning. We are committed to being present and intentional in the lead-up to Kelowna HOOPFEST from June 5th to 7th.” In addition to the Bandits School Tour, Julius and members of Bandits staff had the opportunity to connect with various Okanagan business, media and community leaders, including attending the 51st annual Western Canada Tournament at Kelowna Secondary and a Kelowna Rockets hockey game. ###
