Edmonton, AB The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced on Monday that the organization has re-signed two-time CEBL Player of the Year, Xavier Moon for the 2021 Season. In his two seasons with The Edmonton Stingers, Moon has been named to the All-CEBL First Team, named Finals MVP, and is the reigning CEBL Player of the Year .

“We are thrilled that Xavier has chosen Edmonton as a place where he can showcase his impressive skills and as a place he can call his home,” said

Moon joined The Edmonton Stingers in the 2019 Inaugural Season where he made an immediate impact both on and off the court. The Goodwater, Al native instantly became a fan-favourite and finished the season tied for the league lead in points per game (19.3) and second in assists (5.7). He also led the league in steals (2.2) and finished third in three-point shooting percentage (43.5%) as he led the Stingers to the CEBL Semi-Finals; capturing the first ever CEBL Player of the Year Award.

In the Championship Game, Moon scored 31 points; the most scored in a CEBL Championship Game and the most points scored by a CEBL Player in the 2020 Season. If that wasn’t enough, Moon also hit the game-winning free throws in Elam Ending time to clinch the Stingers first-ever CEBL Championship with a 90-73 win over the Fraser Valley Bandits . As a result of his efforts, Moon was awarded CEBL Championship Finals MVP as well as CEBL Player of the Year for the second year in a row.

“Once again X is our first signing! His commitment to our organization and the city is truly special,” said
Head Coach and General Manager, Jermaine Small . “With his incredible accolades and hunger to be better, there isn't anybody else I would trust to lead us to another championship.”

Moon’s excellence doesn’t stop there. Following his performance with The Edmonton Stingers in 2019, Moon received two NBA G-League tryout opportunities; including one from the Raptors 905. More recently, Moon signed with Maccabi Hod Hasharon Basketball Club of the National League in Israel where he is averaging 24.8 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists in five games this season.

While Moon’s performance on the court is impressive, he has also made his mark off the court. Moon is incredibly passionate about using the game of basketball as an outlet to positively influence and inspire others to chase their dreams. Since his first season, Moon has been incredibly active in the Edmonton Community. He volunteers at children’s basketball camps, community events, and is very involved with the Boys and Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton.
