Canadian forward to begin pro journey in Edmonton following a collegiate career that ended at Southern Methodist University

The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday the signing of Canadian forward Keon Ambrose-Hylton. This marks Ambrose-Hylton's transition into professional basketball following his  collegiate career in the NCAA.

“I chose the Stingers because I know I can be impactful. Also, the head coach was a player first, so he understands the game from a player’s perspective,” said Ambrose-Hylton. “Overall, I’m excited to be a part of this team and community.”

This past season, Ambrose-Hylton played for the  Southern Methodist University (SMU) Mustangs, During the 2024–25 season at SMU, he appeared in 35 games, averaging 4.0 points and 2.5 rebounds per game, with a field goal percentage of 56.4%. He contributed 10 points in SMU's 73–53 victory over Syracuse in the ACC Tournament.

During the 2023-2024 season, Ambrose-Hylton started in 20 of his 33 games played, scoring 6.9 points per game. He posted his NCAA career high with 19 points against Tex. A&M-Commerce on December 3rd, 2023."We are very fortunate to have Keon start his professional career with the Edmonton Stingers,”  said Head Coach and General Manager Jordan Baker. “His length, athleticism, and activity bring a new, exciting dimension to our front court group and we look forward to seeing him grow and develop with us this season."

Prior to transferring to SMU, he spent two seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide, appearing in 32 games.

The 6-foot-9 forward is a former top Canadian high school prospect who has represented Canada on the international stage, including at the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup. During that tournament, he posted a team-high 16 points in the group stage against Mali.

The Stingers will return to the Edmonton EXPO Centre on May 11th to host the Calgary Surge in their home opener. Tickets are available for as low as $20 per seat and can be purchased online or by contacting the Stingers head office via email ([email protected]) or phone (1-87STINGERS).
