East II goes West to join the Stingers

The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Friday the signing of American guard Sean East II. This will be East’s first year in the CEBL.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of a championship team and helping bring a title to the city,” said East II. “This will be my first time in Canada, so I’m really looking forward to experiencing the culture and connecting with as many fans as possible. I really respect that Coach Baker played in Edmonton himself, it shows he has a real passion for the city, the fans and the game. Knowing he truly cares makes me excited for the opportunity to play under him.”

East is coming off of 8 games at BC Athletic Constanta averaging 35 Minutes, 24.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in his first season as a professional.

Before turning professional, East played at several collegiate programs. He began his NCAA career with the University of Massachusetts in 2019–20, appearing in 31 games and averaging 9.3 points and 28.2 minutes per game. He transferred to Bradley University for the 2020–21 season, where he averaged nine points in 28 minutes per game. In 2021–22, East joined the NJCAA’s John A. Logan College, earning NJCAA Player of the Year honours in 2022. He was also named to the NABC Honour Court in both 2023 and 2024.

“Sean is an exceptional talent and we are very excited that he will be joining us this summer.” Said Head Coach and General Manager Jordan Baker, “He is a crafty player who can impact the game in a number of different ways, and we look forward to seeing how he meshes with the rest of our roster.”

The 6’3” guard finished his university career with two years at The University of Missouri where he played 30 games in his senior season, averaging 34.2 minutes and 17.6 points per game and was named the 2023-24 SEC Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

East and the Stingers will return to the Edmonton EXPO Centre on May 11th to host the Calgary Surge in their home opener. Tickets are available for as low as $20 per seat and can be purchased online or by contacting the Stingers head office via email ([email protected]) or phone (1-87STINGERS).
