Vingt étudiants-athlètes de U SPORTS ont signé avec des clubs de la LECB, représentant trois conférences et quatorze établissements postsecondaires
La Ligue élite canadienne de basketball (LECB) a dévoilé aujourd’hui les résultats de sa toute première Journée des signatures de la LECB, alors que 20 étudiants-athlètes issus de 14 établissements postsecondaires à travers le pays franchissent une nouvelle étape dans leur parcours en basketball.
« À titre de ligue professionnelle de basketball au Canada, notre priorité est de faire progresser le sport ainsi que les athlètes qui le propulsent, a déclaré le président et chef de la direction de la LECB, Ty Mazereeuw. La Journée des signatures offre aux étudiants-athlètes un accès direct au niveau professionnel, où ils peuvent se mesurer à une compétition de haut niveau et contribuer à un produit dynamique et relevé. Grâce à une visibilité accrue sur CEBL+, YouTube et les plateformes de CBC, ainsi que par un solide appui des partisans dans chaque marché, cette opportunité constitue un véritable tremplin pour faire évoluer leur carrière au sein d’une ligue ancrée dans la communauté. »
Annoncée le 26 mars, la Journée des signatures remplace l’ancien format de repêchage de la ligue et marque une nouvelle étape dans l’évolution du partenariat entre la LECB et U SPORTS, établi en 2019, ainsi qu’avec la CCAA plus récemment. Cette nouvelle approche offre un parcours plus direct et flexible permettant aux étudiants-athlètes canadiens de passer du milieu universitaire à la scène professionnelle.
« U SPORTS est fier de son partenariat avec la LECB, qui permet à nos étudiants-athlètes de signer avec des clubs et de poursuivre leur développement de façon significative pendant la saison morte de U SPORTS, a déclaré Matthew Davies, chef du sport de U SPORTS. La cohorte de cette année présente un mélange de talents émergents et de visages familiers, dont Aaron Rhooms de l’Université métropolitaine de Toronto et DJ Jackson de l’Université St. Francis Xavier, deux joueurs qui ont déjà laissé leur marque tant à U SPORTS qu’au sein de la LECB.
Joueur de l’année en titre de U SPORTS et champion des Sports universitaires de l’Ontario (SUO), Rhooms sera de retour avec les Stingers d’Edmonton pour une troisième saison consécutive. L’une des forces offensives les plus constantes au pays, il a terminé troisième au Canada pour les points marqués la saison dernière avec une moyenne de 22,0 points par match.
Originaire de Mississauga (Ontario), Jackson portera les couleurs des Honey Badgers de Brampton après avoir disputé 11 matchs avec le Surge de Calgary la saison dernière. De retour à St. Francis Xavier pour une deuxième saison avec les X-Men, il a été nommé joueur par excellence du Sport universitaire de l’Atlantique (SUA) pour une deuxième année consécutive.
Yohann Sam des BlackJacks d’Ottawa, Easton Thimm du Mamba de Saskatoon et Mason Kraus des Sea Bears de Winnipeg seront également de retour pour un deuxième été, après avoir acquis de l’expérience précieuse dans la ligue la saison dernière.

Edmonton, AB- The Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Friday the re-signing of American forward Nick Hornsby. Having started for the Stingers in every game over the past two seasons, Hornsby has racked up more rebounds, assists, and minutes than any other Stingers player in that span, and ranks second in scoring. “I’m very excited to be back in Edmonton for another summer,” said Hornsby. “I can’t wait to get back in front of the best fans in the CEBL and get some wins!” During the 2025 season, the 6’7” forward averaged 12.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game. Across the league, he ranked 1st in total rebounds and 3rd in total assists, making him the only player in the CEBL to rank in the top 10 in both categories. Hornsby posted 5 double-doubles including a season high 15 rebounds paired with 16 points on July 11th vs Scarborough while narrowly missing posting multiple triple-doubles on multiple occasions. Back for his fourth CEBL campaign in Edmonton, Hornsby made an immediate impact putting up a career high 22 points in only his third game with the Stingers in 2023, the first of his 44 double-digit scoring efforts over the next three seasons. "Nick is a huge part of the Edmonton Stingers organization and we are very glad to have him back for his fourth season with the team. His impact extends far beyond the box score, and his leadership role has grown year over year. The long-time pro competed for Hangtuah Jakarta in the Indonesian Basketball League after the 2025 CEBL season, averaging 23.6 points, 12.4 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 14 games for the club. It was his most recent of his nine professional seasons, having played five seasons in the German ProA and ProB leagues and two in the Israel Basketball Premier League. Prior to turning professional, the Irvine, CA native played four seasons for Sacramento State, tallying 659 NCAA Division I points in 89 games. He graduated from the program ranked third in all-time rebounds. Hornsby will be finishing his season with Hangtuah Jakarta in Indonesia before returning to the Stingers in June. The Vancouver Bandits announced Thursday that the club has signed 6-foot-9 forward Dominic Parolin to its roster for the 2026 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. Hailing from Coquitlam, B.C., this marks Parolin’s first professional basketball contract after recently completing a six-year NCAA DI career with stints at Boise State University and Lehigh University. After redshirting during the 2024-25 season, Parolin appeared in 32 games for the Boise State Broncos in 2025-26 where he suited up in 32 games with averages of 5.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 0.5 blocks in 17.0 minutes per game. Prior to Boise State, Parolin played four seasons with the Lehigh Mountain Hawks where he was named Third Team All-Patriot League in 2024. “We are all excited about working with Dominic. He has had a tremendous college career and has a very high ceiling as a professional player,” said Bandits head coach and general manager, Kyle Julius. “Dominic plays with big time toughness, has great size and a versatile game as a power forward. The Niagara River Lions announced today the re-signing of 6’4 American guard Khalil Ahmad for the 2026 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. Widely regarded as the most decorated player in CEBL history, Ahmad returns to Niagara following back-to-back championship runs for his fifth season with the team after playing an instrumental role in the team's success averaging 19.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 steals during the 2025 campaign. Ahmad most recently competed in Israel with Maccabi Rishon Lezion of the Israel Basketball Super League (Israel BSL), where he continued to showcase his elite scoring ability and two-way impact, putting up an average performance of 15.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 21 games. “We are ecstatic about Khalil being back for season 5. Fudge, un ailier de six pieds neuf originaire de Jacksonville, en Floride, se joint à Ottawa alors qu’il évolue présentement dans la NBA G League avec le Skyforce de Sioux Falls. En 26 matchs cette saison, le joueur de 22 ans maintient des moyennes de 6,9 points, 3,3 rebonds et 0,7 passe, tout en affichant un taux d’efficacité de 58,1 % au tir. « Alex amène une étincelle à notre équipe. Il est très polyvalent et peut influencer le match de plusieurs façons. Fudge, a six-foot-nine forward from Jacksonville, Fla., joins Ottawa during the 2025–26 NBA G League season, where he is currently playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce. In 26 appearances this season, the 22-year-old is averaging 6.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.7 assists while shooting 58.1 per cent from the field. “Alex brings a spark to our team. He is very versatile and can impact the game in multiple ways. He is going to be vital to our fans with his high-flying dunks and his ability to get stops on defense,” said BlackJacks head coach Justin Mazzulla. Fudge began his professional career after going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. During the 2024–25 season, he split time in the NBA G League with the South Bay Lakers, appearing in nine games and averaging 3.0 points and 2.8 rebounds. He also saw extended G League action during the 2023–24 season with both the Texas Legends and South Bay, combining to average 8.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks across 27 appearances, highlighting his defensive presence and ability to impact the game around the rim. At the collegiate level, Fudge played the 2023–24 season with the Florida Gators men's basketball, where he appeared in 33 games and averaged 5.6 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting over 60 per cent from the field. He began his NCAA career with the LSU Tigers men's basketball in 2022–23, appearing in 32 games and averaging 3.3 points and 3.2 rebounds as a freshman in the Southeastern Conference. The Winnipeg Sea Bears today announced the club has signed forward Teddy Allen for the upcoming Canadian Elite Basketball League season. The 6'6" forward previously played for the Saskatchewan Rattlers (2024, now the Saskatoon Mamba), the Sea Bears (2023-2024) and the Scarborough Shooting Stars (2022). Across his CEBL career, Allen has averaged 24.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. "I'm so grateful and excited to get a chance to come back to Winnipeg," said Allen. "I really enjoyed my time there, and I'm looking forward to helping make the Sea Bears champions." In 2023 with Winnipeg, Allen was named the Canadian Elite Basketball League Most Valuable Player and earned First Team All-CEBL honours after ranking among the league leaders in multiple statistical categories. "We are excited to welcome Teddy back to the Sea Bears," said Head Coach and General Manager Mike Raimbault. "He is a proven MVP-calibre player in our league and a professional scorer at every level. He's grown his game since his previous time in Winnipeg, and we're looking forward to having him back this summer." During the 2025-26 NBA G League season, Allen split time between the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and the Delaware Blue Coats after being acquired by Delaware in a three-team trade on February 19, 2026. In the 2025-26 season, he is averaging 20.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. While with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Allen was named NBA G League Player of the Week in December 2025, becoming the first Vipers player to receive this accolade during the 2025-26 season and the 25th overall in franchise history. Allen was also named to the 2025 G League Winter Showcase All-Showcase Team. Allen played collegiately at West Virginia University, the University of Nebraska, and New Mexico State University. In the 2021-22 season at New Mexico State, he was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and WAC Tournament MVP after averaging 19.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Son énergie, sa robustesse et sa capacité à influencer le match en temps de jeu limité ont fait de lui un élément clé de la rotation à l’avant-court de l’équipe. The Montréal Alliance is proud to announce the return of center Ben Stevens, a dominant presence in the paint and one of the league’s defensive forces, for the upcoming CEBL season. Standing 6-foot-10, the Halifax native served as a team captain last season and made a major impact with the Alliance, appearing in 20 games and averaging 5.0 points and 3.9 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game, while shooting an efficient 62.2% from the field. His energy, physicality, and ability to impact the game in limited minutes made him a key piece of the team’s front court rotation. Stevens’ impact extended far beyond the stat sheet. He led the team in rebounding and set the tone defensively throughout the season, earning recognition as the fan-voted Defensive Player of the Year. Following the CEBL season, Stevens continued his strong play internationally with Bishrelt Metal in the Mongolian Basketball League, where he elevated his production to new heights. In 17 games, he averaged 11.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, recording 195 total rebounds and consistently controlling the glass against top competition. “Last season meant a lot to me, especially the support from the fans,” said Stevens. “Being voted Defensive Player of the Year is something I take pride in because it reflects the effort and identity I bring every night.
