CEBL Announces Artist Lineup For 2021 Championship Weekend  In Edmonton

Main Acts Include Roy Wood$, Kardinal Offishall, 4Korners And More

The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) will host the biggest basketball celebration of the country when  CEBL Championship Weekend  comes to the Expo Centre in Edmonton from August 18 – 22. As part of this celebration, the CEBL revealed Tuesday the full lineup of musical artists performing during the five-day event. 

Canadian rapper and singer
Roy Wood$  currently signed on to OVO Sound, the record label co-founded by acclaimed Canadian rapper and singer Drake, will headline the Championship Weekend festival at 10 p.m. August 20 at main stage at Expo Centre.
 
Toronto rapper and record producer 
Kardinal Offishall  popularly credited as “Canada’s hip hop ambassador”, will be the official halftime performer of the CEBL Championship game August 22 at 2 p.m.
 
4Korne rs, an acclaimed DJ and music producer who has performed at major events including the Cannes Film Festival, the Olympic Games, and the NBA Finals featuring the Toronto Raptors, will be the official Host DJ of the CEBL championship game for the third straight year.  DJ Alize  will be the host DJ of the CEBL semifinals August 20.

Championship Weekend will be a five-day event hosted in partnership with the Expo Centre, City of Edmonton and Province of Alberta. It will feature the annual CEBL Awards event, a family friendly street-festival, tailgate parties, major concerts featuring top artists, a 3x3 Basketball tournament organized by EYBA, an NBA 2k gaming tournament, and the top four CEBL teams competing to be named CEBL Champion. All CEBL games will be available for live streaming on the CEBL’s new OTT streaming service
CEBL+,   cbcsports.ca , the free  CBC Gem  streaming service, the CBC Sports App for iOS and android devices, and on Twitch. The CEBL Championship Weekend semifinals and finals will be televised nationally on CBC TV.
 

A league created by Canadians for Canadians, the CEBL has the highest percentage of Canadian players of any professional league in the country, with 75 percent of its current rosters being Canadians. Players bring experience from the NBA, NBA G League, top international leagues, the Canadian National team program, and top NCAA programs as well as U SPORTS. The only First Division Professional League Partner of Canada Basketball, the CEBL season typically runs from May through August. ROY WOOD$
At 22 years old, Roy Wood$ has accomplished more in the span of three years than most people do in a lifetime. Born Denzel Spencer in Brampton, Ontario, Wood$ first caught the attention of Drake in 2015, going on to be signed to the OVO SOUND label and debuting his first single “Drama” featuring Drake on OVO SOUND Radio in July of 2015. Wood$’ second single “Get You Good” was also premiered on OVO SOUND Radio in late summer of 2015. Soon after his signing, Roy released his debut EP “Exis” to critical acclaim and the #10 spot on Billboard’s US R&B/Hip-Hop chart. In December 2017, the official debut album “Say Less” was released worldwide, peaking at #11 on the US R&B Charts. It features guest appearances fromPartyNextDoor, DVSN, PNB Rock, and 24hrs. Following the album, Roy embarked on the Say Less Tour, performing at sold out venues across North America, Europe, and the UK. Within a span of two months following his stint around the globe, Roy was invited as a special guest on Drake’s, Aubrey and the Three Migos Tour to close off 2018.
 
KARDINAL OFFISHALL

Kardinal Offishall is a Canadian   rapper record producer DJ , and  record executive . Often credited as Canada's " hip hop  ambassador", he is regarded as one of the country's best hip hop producers, and is best known for his distinctive  reggae  and  dancehall -influenced style of hip hop. He collaborated with R&B singer Akon starting a musical partnership that lasted until 2010. In 2007, he signed with Akon's Kon Live Distribution label, through Geffen, and released his fourth album, Not 4 Sale, the following year. The first single, "Dangerous", became a top five hit on the  Billboard Hot 100 , and was certified triple  platinum  in Canada. Offishall released two  gold -certified singles, "Numba 1 (Tide Is High)" and "Body Bounce”.
 
4KORNERS

4KORNERS is an acclaimed DJ and music producer who has done it all. Whether it's at top nightclubs in over 20 countries, or renowned events including the Cannes film festival, London Fashion Week, the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Olympic games, or the CEBL Championship finals, his eclectic sound radiates throughout every performance.  Add to that he has won many awards including Canadian DJ of the year and most recently an NBA championship as the official DJ of the Toronto Raptors.

 
MITCHELL LAWLE
RTwo-time Edmonton Music Award winning rapper Mitchell Lawler, combines a wide array of genres ranging from Boom Bap to Pop to Trap to create his own blend of Hip Hop. His lyrical content balances from tongue-in-cheek to contemplative while keeping high energy performances. With a commanding stage presence, Lawler has found himself on platforms playing the mainstage at One Love Music Festival, Western Canada’s largest Hip Hop festival; supporting Iron Mic Music Festival at the Edmonton Expo Centre as well as being half of the sole local act supporting J. Cole at The Shaw Conference Centre in front of 4,000 people. He has sharpened his performing finesse by sharing stages with the likes of Big Sean, Tyler The Creator, Logic, T-Pain, T.I., Hopsin, Machine Gun Kelly, A$AP Ferg and many other major acts. He has also showcased at the TD Music Green Room during The JUNO Awards in Calgary.


CAB’RA
LAt the vanguard of Edmonton’s underground music scene for years, Cab’Ral has recently established himself as a rare artistic force on a national & international level. His single “Take Time” has reached one million streams on Spotify alone while also finding a spot in charts in countries like Portugal, Sweden & Norway. Cab’Ral entered 2020 on the back of his first cross-country tour opening for American superstar Lil Mosey. He capped the tour by returning home and performing in front of a thousand hometown fans in Edmonton’s prestigious Winspear Centre. Though his style is heavily rooted in rap, it is his effortless ability to weave other genres and visual influences into his art that breathes life into something entirely unique.


KUZI CE
EKuzi Cee brings a unique, emotional, and energetic mix of R&B, Pop, and Hip Hop. Kuzi's dynamic singing voice and ability to seamlessly transition into rap verses give him the ability to perform songs that blend different genres. Kuzi strives to deliver shows that fill the room with emotions and draw the audience in.


OG JONA
HAfter touring across North America with Grammy nominated superstars including Burna Boy, Tyga, Lil Mosey, Rich the Kid, Davido, WIZKID, CORDAE & Bhad Bhabie, along with his own Canada-wide tour, OG Jonah is on route to becoming a global phenomenon. One of the most recognizable figures in Canadian hip hop, OG Jonah rose to fame in 2017 following the release of his first EP “Heads or Tails” which consisted of timeless hits like “Hunnit” & “Lose”. Since then OG Jonah has released the following projects: “Heartless” in 2018, “VENGEANCE” AND “DIVINE WISDOM” IN 2019, “40 below” in 2021, along with Dozens of singles between 2017 to now.


SELASSIE DRA
HSelassie Drah is a recording hip-hop artist and lyricist, originally from Ghana and now based in Edmonton, Alberta. Their earnest lyrics draw listeners into their world, making them a very relatable and heart-felt artist. Selassie’s debut EP “Recluse” is gloomy-toned project that illustrates his personal battles as an up-and-coming artist. Selassie’s music embodies authentic sincerity and openness as they never shy away from sharing their most personal stories. It is their hope that their listeners find some sense of relatability and resonance through their projects.


EVRLOVE BLAK
EEvrlove Blake is a Canadian born artist known primarily for his Hip Hop and Reggae prowess. His music is a blend of Island vibes, Hip Hop sensibilities, and R&B undertones which he categorizes as "Cloudy Trap" music. At the age of 20 the Canadian born artist caught the attention of a Grammy award producer/Engineer Bob Horn and went on to make a charted record , Receiving incredible industry feedback praising his creative vocals, Songwriting and innovative sound. Since then Blake has spent the last year recording numerous records developing his sounds and stage presence performing in various cities opening for over 50 top charting artist like Meek Millz, French Montana, Kid Ink, MGK, Lauryn HIll to name a few. He has recently redeveloped his brand and has been focused on taking business to the next level.

HConch’s sound is personable, emotional and expressive, making for a kaleidoscopic approach that is a rare currency in the mainstream. Handling all aspects of his creation from writing & production to mixing & mastering he presents a modern take on alternative R&B and Hip Hop. Conch has been widely recognized within the local music scene and beyond. His music has amassed over 2,000,000 streams and has been featured on multiple Spotify Editorial playlists (New Music Friday’s Canada, indie pop & chill, Outliers, Mood Ring & more) as well as rotation on Sirius XM & CBC Radio.


K4
TK4T from Edmonton, AB., carries a vintage sound with a modern twist, inspired by artists like Blossom Dearie, Ella Fitzgerald. and Amy Winehouse. She inherited her love for music from her family, as her childhood home was always lively. At the age of three, she was enrolled in dance, and music became her main outlet to express herself. Hidden in her childhood diaries are many songs about love, and experiences with friends and family. It wasn’t until high school, when K4T decided to share her original music with others. After receiving positive feedback from her peers, she began to showcase her talent by performing both covers and originals at local cafes in 2018. She continues to write music as a form of journaling, expressing her emotions through song in hopes to better understand herself. She hopes to grow an audience organically, connecting to her audience through the transparency of her music
