Former Senior Men’s Canadian National Team member to help lead growth of CEBL expansion team

The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League announced Wednesday that Burlington native Brady Heslip has been named General Manager of the league’s expansion club.

As a former member of the Canadian Senior Men’s National Team, Heslip won a silver medal in the 2015 Pan American Games as well as a bronze medal at the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship. The 31-year- old also played seven professional seasons in the NBA G League, NBA Summer League, the Bosnian National League, and the Basketball Bundesliga in Germany.

“I am honoured and grateful to be appointed general manager of Scarborough’s pro basketball team,” said Heslip. “I am excited about the opportunity to build this organization and be a part of a championship culture for years to come”.

Heslip played for Baylor University from 2011 to 2014 where he averaged 10.1 points in 112 games played while shooting 40 percent from the three-point line. He signed with the Iowa Energy of the NBA G League in 2014 and pointers converted 11 three-point attempts in his professional debut, setting the league record for most three-pointers made in a single game. He surpassed his own record 15 days later when he made 13 threes against the Idaho Stampede. He went on to play for the Bosnian Club, Igokea, later that year and was named 2015 Bosnian Cup Grand Final MVP after helping his team win the championship. In 15 Bosnian League games for Igokea, Helslip averaged 18.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Heslip was acquired by the Raptors 905 for the 2016-17 season after playing four preseason games with the Toronto Raptors in the NBA. He last played for the German team, Skyliners Frankfurt of the Bundesliga in 2018.
