Niagara Agrees to Terms with American Guard Curry
The New Jersey native has more than 300 games of professional experience across seven different countries

The River Lions announced today the signing of 6-foot-4 American guard Ron Curry ahead of the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. Hailing from Pennsauken, New Jersey, Curry most recently played for Sporting Clube de Portugal of the Portuguese LBP (P-LPB) averaging 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 2.1 steals over 25 games in 2023-2024. After a season-ending knee injury last year, Curry is set to make both his return to the court and CEBL debut with the Niagara River Lions this season, bringing proven versatility and experience.
“Ron is a very good player who can do a bit of everything on the basketball court,” said Head Coach and General Manager, Victor Raso. “He is an excellent decision maker, excellent defender, and he can create for himself and others. Ron has won championships all over Europe, and we expect him to bring his winning ways to Niagara.”
Curry had a standout career at
James Madison University,
averaging 12.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists across 128 games. As a senior, he posted 17.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 33.4 minutes per game, earning First Team honors in both the NABC All-District (10) and All-CAA selections, along with CAA Defensive Team recognition.
Professionally, Curry has built a reputation as a consistent winner. After launching his career in Slovenia with
Krka Novo Mesto in 2016, he continued to thrive in Germany (Telekom Baskets Bonn), Hungary – winning a Hungarian NBIA championship with
Falco-Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely – and Latvia, where he captured three titles in the 2021-2022 season with VEF Riga. He also spent time with
Le Portel of the
French Jeep Elite league before his most recent season in Portugal.
Now, healthy and energized, Curry looks to make an immediate impact in Niagara. "I'm really appreciative of the opportunity to play with the River Lions,” said Curry. “I've heard nothing but good things about this organization and I can't wait to arrive and be a part of it all!”
