The Edmonton Stingers Sign Two New Free Agents

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Stingers of the CEBL have signed two new free agents to their roster in preparation of the 2022 season. The Stingers look to add experience and talent with the additions of Roger Moute a Bidias and Freddie McSwain.


Moute A Bidias, younger brother of former NBA player Luc Mbah a Moute, joins the Stingers with four seasons of professional experience under his belt. Moute A Bidias spent four years with the University of California Bears before spending three seasons in the NBA G League, earning a spot with the Raptors 905 after an open tryout in 2017. In the 2018-2019 season, Moute A Bidias won the NBA G League Championship with the Rio Grande Vipers. The next season he would average a G League career best 11.9 points per game while suiting up for the Vipers and the Santa Cruz Warriors. Most recently, Moute a Bidias played for Apollo Amsterdam of the Dutch and Belgian BNXT, averaging a team high 17.9 points per game.


McSwain Jr. will bring NCAA and pro experience as he spent two years playing at Indiana University, registering 62 games for the Hooisers. On December 21st, 2017, McSwain scored a NCAA Division I career high 10 points against Tennessee Tech. Although drafted by the Canton Charge of the NBA G league, McSwain began his professional career with the Moncton Magic of the Canadian NBL. During the 2019 NBL Playoffs, McSwain would average 5.4 points and 3.8 rebounds to help the Magic win the NBL Championship. He would compete in the Austrian Bundesliga and the Finnish Korisliiga throughout the 2020-21 season. At the start of the 2021-22 season, McSwain played 8 for Racing Club Luxembourg of the Total League in Luxembourg where he averaged 19.8 points per game. In March, he joined BK Olomoucko of the Czech NBL, and in 8 games with the club he managed 10.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.


These players will join two new U Sports athletes who will be selected by the Stingers during the upcoming 2022 U Sports draft on April 19th.


The Stingers are excited to begin their journey of defending their back-to-back CEBL Championships in search of the coveted threepeat. The 2022 Stingers season will see 10 home and 10 away games, beginning with a homestand against the Niagara River Lions on May 27th at 7:00 pm.
