Versatile 6-foot-9 forward brings Final Four pedigree to Montréal after standout season in Europe

The Montréal Alliance is proud to announce the signing of forward Anthony Walker for the 2025 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) season. The 6-foot-9 Baltimore native joins the Alliance after an impressive 2024-25 campaign with Beroe in Bulgaria’s top league, where he has averaged 22.0 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

“Anthony brings valuable size and versatility to our roster,” said Joel Anthony, General Manager and co-owner of the Alliance. “His NCAA Tournament experience and proven ability to contribute on both ends of the floor make him an excellent addition as we look to strengthen our frontcourt for the upcoming season.”

Walker arrives in Montréal with an impressive basketball résumé, having played four seasons with the Miami Hurricanes, where he reached the Elite Eight in 2022 and the Final Four in 2023. He spent his fifth collegiate season at Indiana University, where he averaged 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds while shooting a career-best 48.3% from the field and 75.0% from the free-throw line.

Following his collegiate career, Walker has elevated his game to new heights in Europe with Beroe, nearly tripling his scoring average from his college days while developing into a reliable offensive threat.

Known for his infectious positivity and communication skills, Walker earned praise from Indiana head coach Mike Woodson: “We could not be more proud of Anthony. He is a great kid, a hard worker, and a really good athlete. We look forward to following him during this next step of his basketball career. He will be a great addition to Montréal and we wish nothing but the best for Walk.”

“What attracted me to the Alliance was their commitment to building a winning culture,” said Walker. “I’ve heard amazing things about the passionate fanbase in Montréal and can’t wait to play in front of them at Verdun Auditorium.”

The upcoming 2025 season will be the longest in CEBL history with each team playing 24 regular season games, including 12 home contests for the Alliance at the Verdun Auditorium. The Alliance will play its home opener on May 18 against the Brampton Honey Badgers. Fans can mark their calendars for the 2025 Championship Weekend which will take place in Winnipeg at the Canada Life Centre from August 21-24.

Vancouver Bandits Make Impactful Community Visits in the Okanagan

The Vancouver Bandits, BC’s professional basketball team in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are committed to making a positive impact through basketball and growing the game across British Columbia, and this dedication was highlighted this past week in Kelowna and the Okanagan area. Coming off the recent announcement of Kelowna HOOPFEST, a brand-new basketball festival featuring a CEBL neutral-site home game in partnership with the City of Kelowna, Bandits head coach Kyle Julius spent time at five Okanagan-area secondary schools and both of Kelowna’s post-secondary men’s basketball teams, as part of the Vancouver Bandits third-annual Bandits School Tour. Julius and Bandits staff visited Mount Boucherie Secondary School, Immaculata Regional High School, Okanagan Mission Secondary, Rutland Secondary School and Kelowna Secondary, as well as the men’s basketball teams at UBC Okanagan and Okanagan College, providing dedicated and tailored practices along with motivational talks and training materials. Launched in 2023, the Bandits School Tour is supported by the Bandits Community Foundation, Preston Chevrolet and Envision Financial and offers a unique opportunity for student-athletes and volunteer coaches to learn directly from BC’s only professional basketball coach. “What stood out most during our visit was the impact basketball can have when it is rooted in mentorship and connection; it is clear how vibrant the basketball and business ecosystem is in the Okanagan,” said Bandits team president Dylan Kular. “We are thankful to the Okanagan and Kelowna communities for welcoming us so openly, and this is only the beginning. We are committed to being present and intentional in the lead-up to Kelowna HOOPFEST from June 5th to 7th.” In addition to the Bandits School Tour, Julius and members of Bandits staff had the opportunity to connect with various Okanagan business, media and community leaders, including attending the 51st annual Western Canada Tournament at Kelowna Secondary and a Kelowna Rockets hockey game. ###
