World Vision Canada Named Official Charity of the Canadian Elite Basketball League

World Vision Canada and the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced today that the global relief, development and advocacy organization has been named the official charity of the CEBL. During the 2023 season, World Vision and the CEBL will formally launch a campaign supporting World Vision’s work in some of the most dangerous places in the world to further allow the league’s fans to assist vulnerable children.

Earlier this year the CEBL joined World Vision on a trip to Honduras to witness the impact the charity is providing through its Raw Hope program. Commissioner and Co-Founder Mike Morreale was joined by Montréal Alliance player Alain Louis, Brampton Honey Badger Koby McEwen and the General Manager of the Honey Badgers and former Canadian National Team member, Jermaine Anderson. 

Together, the CEBL and World Vision Canada see unlimited potential in youth and children around the world. The CEBL is committed to supporting World Vision’s work while helping to grow the game of basketball on a global scale. The investment in the protection and well-being of vulnerable children and youth will make an impact for generations to come.

2023 Schedule

The 2023 CEBL season tips-off on May 24th, as the Ottawa BlackJacks host the defending 2022 Champion Brampton Honey Badgers live on TSN. 

A total of 20 CEBL games will be nationally broadcast on TSN this season. Fans can livestream all regular season, playoff and Championship Weekend games on CEBL+, TSN+ and the CEBL Mobile app for iOS and Android devices. The CEBL’s fifth season will culminate at Championship Weekend in Vancouver from August 11-13th. A league created by Canadians for Canadians, the CEBL is the largest pro sports league in the country with 10 teams located in six provinces. It has the highest percentage of Canadian players of any professional league in the country, with over 70 percent of its current rosters being Canadians. Players bring experience from the NBA, NBA G League, top international leagues, the Canadian National team program, and top NCAA programs as well as U SPORTS. The only First Division Professional League Partner of Canada Basketball, the CEBL season runs from May through August.
